Review: The Unbreakable Rules of Marketing by Cathey Armillas & Jeff Berry

Sara and I recently had the pleasure of hearing marketing expert Cathey Armillas speak at a Portland Business Alliance event. She spent about 15 minutes going over a successful marketing campaign she’d undertaken in her career, and how it applied to the 9 1/2 “Unbreakable Rules of Marketing” she touts in her book. I was lucky enough to win a copy of her book at the end of the event. Here is my review:

unbreakable rules of marketingIn The Unbreakable Rules of Marketing, authors Cathey Armillas & Jeff Berry have created a wonderful synopsis of the basic rules of marketing, and provided numerous examples to support their key points. Interspersed with humor, the book is easy to read, and is itself, a great example of effective marketing in action.

While there is no earth-shattering information in this book (there almost never is in “business” books), it is a great reminder of how important it is to be constantly aware of the impact of marketing on our respective businesses, and just how easy it is to negatively impact the same through our behaviors and actions. Armillas & Berry have very clearly outlined and prioritized the guidelines for marketing, and in so doing, have provided each of us with a blueprint for success.

The book serves as smart and timely reminder to continually make marketing a priority. It has certainly re-energized my own marketing efforts.

T-Jag has also given The Unbreakable Rules of Marketing his dino-seal of approval:
